Project context

James Hardie booked me for a commercial shoot for its Hardie Secura Flooring product. The day was planned properly, right down to watching the weather, because we needed bright, usable construction-site light and enough time to move through a detailed shot list. The brief was not just to make generic building-site images. Secura Flooring needed to look distinct, practical and campaign-ready, especially through the product's green edge, which helps it stand apart visually from other flooring products. Crippen Building supplied the construction-site setting and builder talent, with Scott Crippen and his lovely wife helping bring the site story to life, so the imagery could feel real rather than staged in a showroom. I was shooting both photos and video on the day, moving between hero product moments, install action, detail shots and wider frames that could be cropped across social, print and campaign layouts.

Outcome

The final image set gave James Hardie a strong product story with a real builder, real materials and a real site doing the visual work. The green edge became a clear campaign cue, the wider framing gave the agency room to crop for different formats, and the mix of photography and video meant the team could build still, social and motion assets from the same shoot day. It was also one of those commercial days that felt genuinely fun because there were so many good people involved. Everyone had a job to do, the storyboard gave us a clear path, and the energy on site helped the finished images feel confident, practical and human.
