Project context
I have worked with Interface for over ten years, capturing their events along the way, so it is always a pleasure to be asked back. They really value their staff, and it shows. There is a lot of great staff retention at Interface, with people properly appreciated for the work they do. This Business Awards night took the commercial team out to the Blue Mountains, with around seventy people getting together at Lilianfels Resort & Spa in Katoomba. One of the main parts of the evening was celebrating Val, who was leaving the business after twenty five years with Interface. It was a really special send off and the room was right behind her. I covered the arrivals, the relaxed photos and conversations before dinner, the awards and tributes, and all the little reactions that happen when people are cheering on their mates. By the end of the night, the music was up and everyone was having a really good time. After working with Interface for so long, they make me feel like a member of the team and the family. I know a lot of the staff by name, and they remember me whenever I am there to shoot an event. It always feels like a celebration and a bit like coming home, which is pretty cool.
What I delivered
Outcome
The finished gallery gives Interface a real record of the night. It has the polished arrivals and group photos, but also the hugs, laughs, proud award winners and Val's send off after twenty five years with the business. It is a strong set of images for internal communications, social posts and for the team to look back on. More than anything, it shows a business that genuinely appreciates its people and a good crew celebrating each other in a beautiful Blue Mountains setting.
